Spring Fling

top essentials spring

Spring is probably my favorite time of year because it’s the sunny season with pops of rain, it’s so refreshing to be able to wear shorts with a cardigan and not feel ‘stupid’…so if you’re gonna do it, Spring would be the perfect time!

I’ve compiled what I believe are the Spring Top Essentials for this year, check them out.

 1. Denim Shirt: A denim shirt is easy wear and can easily be combined with almost any look, whether it be casual or a bit more dressed up. The best thing of all is denim really isn’t hot, so feel free to rock your denim wear with cute shorts or skirts under the sun. Tip: If you want to dress it up, an easy fix is finding a pendent that is glamourous and chic and attach it to either one side of the collar or attach it as feminine bow tie.
2. Floral Print: Floral printed shirts have been in style for a while now and I don’t see them going anywhere any time soon so if you don’t spot flowers in your closet, make sure to pick one up! You can find these almost anywhere around the Spring/Summer seasons at your local F21, H&M, Zara and other trendy stores.
3. Band Tees: Probably the best type of tees are your rocker band tees. Not only do they look cool and add an edgy feel to an outfit but 9 out of 10 times they are made of cotton and can be incredibly comfortably when in hot weather. So be sure to either steal them from your dad, siblings or boyfriend. Tip: The glory of these tees is that they are so versatile and can be used as pj’s, gym wear and even can be sported in the winter!
4. Cropped Turtle Neck: Remember the days your mom would make you wear these and you hated them? I do, and now look at me. I sometimes wish I could of saved all the turtle necks I had as a kid instead of investing on American Apparel ones. These are all the rage, and you might be thinking “Girl, it’s Spring! What is this doing here?” But there’s a reason why it has no sleeves and is cropped! These are great for Spring because they show enough skin while keeping you warm on those chilly nights.
5. Crop Tops: I’m sure you have one or two in your closet, and who doesn’t? These are a must Spring/Summer essential and are often paired up with high waisted flared jeans or shorts!
6. Peplum Shirts: If you haven’t hopped on this trend, please do so! The Peplum shirt is an amazing way to narrow your waist and make you look thinner, as well as cuter! Most Peplum shirts can be a bit fancy, but it’s a great way to spruce up your closet with some blouses for those days where its all work and no play.
7. Crochet Cardigan: This one might be a little bias because I have a deep love for crochet. It might just be the perfect style/material for the Spring weather, adding some warmth but still letting the awesome breeze through. Invest in one, I totally recommend it!
8. Polka Who?: Polka Dots have been a trend since the 30′s and will forever live in my book! Some say it’s a “grandma” print and all I say to that is, I honestly hope I’m trendy enough to be rocking polka dots when I’m older. Not only is this print cute but timeless as well, and can easily be turned from casual to formal.
9. Lace: My first love… (I hope my boyfriend isn’t reading this!) Lace is the perfect material for a feminine touch to any outfit, and is a material that is seen a lot during the sunny seasons. If you don’t have something lacey in your closet, I would opt for you to get a blouse/shirt with some sort of lace detail. You’d be surprised how a little bit of lace can make the world difference.

Coachella Dressing Tips 2013

coachellawagon

It’s a bittersweet year in the life of this blogger, being as I’m not attending this years Coachella…but I know so many of you are! (lucky boys and girls) Although I won’t be there physically, be rest assure I will be there in spirit!

And because you’re being part of this 3 day music movement filled with creative people, don’t be intimidated to show your creativity as well! If you’re asking how? Your best outlet is ‘what you’re wearing,’ and I know that can sound a little superficial but music festivals like these are the best to get dressed up for and show your cutest sunny pieces on display! Don’t be shy, because 2 out of 3 people that will be there have actually put quite sometime into thinking about what they will be wearing for this event.

Now, although I’m totally saying you should look cute, don’t give up comfort for looking hawt for those California boys…you might think it’ll be worth it but it never is. You’re at the 2013 version of Woodstock, people used to go nude for comfort…so keep in mind that when it comes down to the roots and greedy of what you’re going to wear, your number one priority to each outfit is comfort.

Coachella Dressing 2013 Tips:

1. Opt for Cotton: It’s one of the coolest materials to be in and can also be pretty warm for those chilly nights. Not to mention it’s so comfy, so pack up a few cropped cotton tee’s in your bag.

2. Heels is a NO NO: I guess this is more of to each their own, cause I’ve seen girls in high wedges before and their excuse is so “they can see the band better,” which I guess is understandable but you wouldn’t catch me wearing heels…not only are you in acres of natural land which can present…lumpy rocks, grass, even mud at times. It makes it unfortunate to ruin a pair of nice shoes, instead go for a breezy sandal that can vent your little feet from all that walking. Maybe even pack some converse for some extra comfort on those long days!

3. Pleather for another occasion: I’m guilty of owning pleather too girls and boys, but Coachella, I personally think is not the place to wear it. You’re going to be under some extreme sunny weathers and the last thing you want is to be gloomy because of all that sweat and not to mention B.O. you’ll probably vent to thy neighbor. No one wants to be the stinky person in a crowd. Think of more ‘airy’ materials. Think more of things you’d wear to a playground if you were a kid?

4. Shorts, two thumbs up!: This is a must for Coachella, so pack up all your cute high waisted, boyfriend, ombre, studded shorts girls and boys. You’ll need them and want them too. This is a festival that requires a lot of walking and being under the sun and the best way to go about those terms is to dress for comfort with style. Shorts are something you can throw on if your in the campgrounds easily and head to the festival! Plus, their an item everyone has…so no need to go out and spend. Save your bucks for the fest!

5. Pack a light/medium sweater/cardigan, weather can be loco: I said it, weather in Indio can be loco in the coco sometimes and unexpected weather can happen! Maybe a little drizzle or maybe the temperature drops at night. A cardigan/sweater is must to have for those times. I personally always have said, “if my little back and arms are warm, my little chicken legs can take it,” and I stand by this. You’ll notice a difference in body warmth with a little layer as basic as a cardigan, so pack it!

Other quick things you should pack: sunblock, umbrella, bring a backpack, camera, hand sanitizer, juice pack (for iphone) if you don’t have one…I would invest in one QUICK, crytstal light on-the-go packs…and I think that’s it. If I think of anything else I’ll be sure to put it up!

Okay my little babies, well enjoy and be safe. Keep yourself hydrated and just have fun, it’s what you’re there for! May the force of 2013 Coachella be with you.
